It will be interesting to see how fans react to this one. The trilogy was especially important to me while I was growing up as it was a source of fantastic wonderment and a vision of a larger and seemingly limitless world. I'd be up for another LotR book, but much of Tolkien's more obscure writing was a bit too slow for my tastes.
A new book by The Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien has gone on sale, 34 years after the writer's death. The Children of Hurin has been completed by his son Christopher from a series of unfinished manuscripts.
Christopher said the story, set long before the events of the Rings trilogy, represents the last major work by his father about Middle-earth.

More 'finished' than the version in Unfinished Tales, more fleshed out than the version in the Silmarillion. Excellent illustrations by Alan Lee. Requires no fore-knowledge of the Silmarillion backstory, or even Lord of the Rings trilogy. A truly tragic tale, well told.
