Bush Sucks Bigtime at RNC
Here we have a 2 term sitting President that gets a measly 8 minutes of simulcast at the RNC. G.W. looks entirely emasculated in his "broadcast address." His message and delivery are riddled with every reminder of his presidency possible. He tells us that John McCain is the man who should led us because we live in a dangerous world, and we should be very, very afraid. He gives an extremely crappy performance. I can't even stomach to watch him anymore. Hey here's one for you. I was watching a documentary called "Sweet Misery" the other night on how various brain cancers (some up to 60%) and neurological disorders have spiked since the FDA approval of the artificial sweetener aspartame in the early 1980s. You may know some of this but the ending might surprise you...
Aspartame - or Nutrasweet or Equal - was actually discovered in 1965, and had repeatedly been denied FDA approval, and was even banned by the FDA in 1980 because of concerns over the high number of brain tumors found in lab rats during ongoing government safety studies.
Determined to get the product to market, the CEO of Searle, the company that held the patent for aspartame vowed to "call in his [political] markers" to get the product approved. The day after Ronald Reagan's innauguration, Searle resubmitted their application for approval to the FDA and after another onslaught of corporate funded studies, politicking and cherry picking committee members for the approval committee, aspartame was finally approved for use as an artificial sweetener.
So who was Searle's CEO? Any guesses? Donald Rumsfeld.
Any guesses who purchased Searle in 1985? Monsanto.
It's a small evil world after all.
