You can get complex behavior like that from a surprisingly simple mathematical model of how individual birds are acting, without any form of leadership. Indeed, this clip is rather persausive in showing that there is little, if any, social hierarchy coming into play in managing the movement (unlike traditional "V" formation examples). It is very much a wisdom of crowds kind of phenomena.

Interesting bird formations. I was watching PBS Channel 24 the other day. The show was about man being the only bipedal animal and how man evolved from apes. Apes have feet like us but they walk on their knuckles too. Walking upright is difficult for apes. The author of the program goes on to say that standing upright and walking on two feet was a big jump in evolution for humans.
Birds are also bipedal like humans. Birds walk on two legs just like humans do. Sand pipers are excellent walkers. The author of the program over looked or ignored this fact. He was just wrong in saying humans are the only bipedal animal.
Maybe this explains my dreams of flying like Peter Pan. I never have dreams of climbing trees and swinging from branch to branch. I think my dreams are common with others. I doubt anyone has had a dream where they behave like an ape.

Wow, that's great! It's wonderful that someone made this amazing blog. Please check this another wonderful site that defined "the prophet" for the modern era. This has made his journey unique: a journey that has taken his inspired message to schools and colleges, churches and synagogues, alleyways and prison cells.

The above comment by Abigail (or Abigael ;) is obvious spam / virus attempt. A quick search reveals the exact same comment on many other blogs and I suspect that hapless Windows users might be at risk by clicking the link provided by "her".

In8sworld, you got me interested in Abigail here. Now I don't know how you can do a search on her. She only gave her first name Abigail. There are millions of Abigail's on the net. I didn't even notice her link until you mentioned it. I did think her comment was odd because she was so praiseful. Like Wow, great, wonderful, unique journey. Now I like Non-prophet but lets not go overboard. I did check her link address, it goes to Kim Clement. But I didn't click it because I took your advise that it could be a spam/virus. I don't need that. I never heard of him before, I guess it is because he is on TBN. Other links say he claims to be a prophet, others say he is a false prophet. From the little bit that I read on him, I would say he is a False Prophet out for MONEY $$$$.

When I first saw your name I wondered why you picked the name In8sworld. I didn’t understand what In8sworld meant at first. After a few years of looking at your name I get. I am slow, but I finally got it. Where I am going with this?. After lots of words I will link it to the Bird Formations at the top of this page. I see the birds flying in harmony.
Harmony: musical agreement of sounds. 2 ; a pleasing arrangement of parts; also : accord : internal calm.
OK, back to In8sworld. There are 8 planets in our solar system. I remember seeing a movie (Ferris Bouller?) where Ben Stein is slowly telling the class in a boring tone “There are 9 planets in the solar system”. Ben was right then but now he’s wrong there are 8 planets in the solar system. What we know keeps changing. After figuring this out I realize you live on the 8th planet in the solar system. InMelaniesWorld, I suppose some of you are wondering which planet she lives on. Your probably thinking it’s got to be planet beyond Pluto. Maybe in another Galaxy. Ok, I made fun of myself.
The point is that we all think differently. We all have a different opinion on everything. Melanie thinks outside of this world. We are not in Harmony on anything. People don’t agree on a lot of issues. The Birds are all in Harmony. Other animals are also in harmony. I was watching TV this morning and saw Sheep doing something similar to what the birds are doing. The sheep are also in Harmony.
Of all of the species, Humans are the only animal that are not is Harmony with the rest of the flock. Why is that?
We can’t all be right if some of us are wrong. I mean there is a right answer, or two right answers but some people are picking none of the above. Why doesn’t everyone get the right answer? I might have the wrong answer at first (not in harmony). But, If I look long enough, really do some research, I'll get the right answer eventually. Some people can't do this? We get annoyed with each other, clashes start, pretty soon we are banging into each other. Meg here wished me cancer, because we didn't agree on Obama. Why aren't we like the other animals? They are all in Harmoney. People as a group are all in disagreement, non harmonious.
