So what is the difference between us and a nation that is, um... evil? We're going to bomb Pakistan back to the stone age if they don't cooperate? You've got to be kidding me. I'm embarrassed when I hear stuff like this. We're not the good guys.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan says the United States threatened to bomb his country back to the Stone Age after the 9/11 attacks if he did not help America's war on terror.

Musharraf says the threat was delivered by Richard Armitage, then the deputy secretary of state, to Musharraf's intelligence director, the Pakistani leader told CBS-TV's "60 Minutes."

"The intelligence director told me that (Armitage) said, 'Be prepared to be bombed. Be prepared to go back to the Stone Age,' " Musharraf said in the interview to be shown Sunday on the CBS television network.

It was insulting, Musharraf said. "I think it was a very rude remark," he told reporter Steve Kroft.

But, Musharraf said he reacted responsibly. "One has to think and take actions in the interests of the nation and that is what I did," he said.

The White House and State Department declined to comment on the conversation.

Well, Pakistan was largely responsible for putting and keeping the Taliban in power - in the ISI's case through active support and in Musharref and other's case, through ignoring the ISI's actions. I don't think it was an unreasonable threat. Without Pakistan's cooperation, we'd effectively have been fighting a proxy war with Pakistan.

I don't remember Pakistan playing much of a role in us fighting the Taliban. I remember some lip service but that is about it.

We contributed quite a bit to putting the Taliban in power as well.

They had a lot more going on w/ the Taliban than anyone else. They were one of only 3 countries who recognized the Islamic Taliban government. They're the ones who went to the Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar in Kandahar in 2001 to deliver the message(threat) to hand in OBL or be bombed by US led forces.

The Clinton admin. thought that the Taliban was a temporary thing and so did Pakistan. The old king was supposed to return. We provided lots of $$ and Pakistan provided lots of fundamentalists. I think we saw them as favorable to the Nothern Alliance and I remember something about a big gas pipeline deal being behind our interest in the first place. So typical.

I guess what really bothers me about this is that when we have allies based on nipple twisting and pay-offs they're really just lying in wait to screw us.

US involvment with the anti-soviet muhahadeen was directed through Pakistan's ISI. The Taliban would not have been running Afghanistan without the ISI's active patronage.

And of course Pakistan is waiting to screw us. That's why we needed to twist their nipples. They needed a bit of bullying to get in line because we couldn't do it - what little we did given the current situation over there - without their support.

I wonder how these people think they are going to get ISI recruited from this blog here. Why don't people contact ISI directly if they want to join. Whatever the ef the ISI is. And why don't people do it in their own language, whatever that may be. I would think you would get more attention from the CIA than the ISI since your advertising on an English site, in English. At first I thought as you that the Us (as in us) was taking to hard of a line on these people. I think he was smart enough to give his real email address, and real name (not). Except that I think his first name is Mohanneb, middle name is Zeehan, last name is Haider. Everyone in his country has the same first name (Initial M.) so they go by their middle name. Now the reason why I spelled his first name wrong was; If you evoke the name of Damin (Satan), in he comes. So in he came. He googled "Pakiztan", so he found this site. Now Pakiztan, kind of looks the same, but when you google it is not an exact match. So if you what to talk about these countries you could change one letter. By doing this you could avoid recuits to subversive organizations coming in here and giving me the creeps. And I think other people like (aaa) are creeped out as well besides me. Except he had a different way of saying it.

Hi Zen,
The tree in my front yard is a pine tree. There are two pine trees in my front yard. There were four pine trees in my front yard. Two have died in the past few year because of what the gardeners did. When they planted the trees they did not remove the burlape bags around the root bags. As the trees grew the bags choked the trees to death because the bags did not rot away.

Last year a man from the tree company came out and cut the bags so the remaining trees wouldn't die. I also have a number of pines in the back yard that he checked on. After he left he did not clean up the mess he made digging around the roots of the trees. I aways have to clean up after the workers here.

So, Zenn baby, are you telling me you are a sick pine tree.

This is what I think you look like. I think you are about 5 feet 8 inches tall. You have brown hair with a slight wave. Dark green eyes and a small nose. You have either a round or square face. You don't have a beard and keep a close shave, except on weekends. Overall I think you are nice looking.
